Went into the bakery today because I was craving their coconut bread that I fell in love with as a kid in the 80’s when my mom used to take me to their old location. If I remember correctly, they used to hold the same space that Starbread is now in. Anyhow, I hadn’t been to this new spot since they moved, and I heard the ownership changed over from those that I knew in the mid 80’s to late 90’s. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted and asked if I needed any help. I asked about the bread, and the best part, is that it is still being made there! I’ll admit that I was very hesitant to buy it, because I didn’t want to be let down if the recipe or quality had changed. To be honest, it tasted every bit as good as I remember from my youth! Glad I reconnected with this childhood favorite, it brought back a lot of fond memories. Not only was it a nostalgic experience for me, but it was also delicious one! I now have my daughter hooked on this bread too, so it was a pretty cool full-circle moment for me. I’m happy to support a business that has deep roots in Chula Vista, and I hope they continue to stick around for many more years to come!

I ordered a tres leches cake with an avocado drawing on top and chocolate around the cake… it was yummylicious! Exquisitely baked, just PERFECT!!! The avocado drawing was sooo cute and exactly like the picture I gave Janelle. Very fair price and I will definitely will keep coming back for more of their deliciousness. 10 ⭐️

One of finest tres leches cakes I have ever eaten yesterday came from SML Bakery!!!! Decorations on top were perfect, too. Heavenly! Nicest staff ever since the first time I entered the store over 30 yrs ago ( on H St). Cookies are exceptional! Great variety in tamales! My ultimate fav for yrs was their eclairs ( not in the cases anymore). Fruit tarts are amazing. Banana breads are a must! Maybe the best bakery in South Bay and even San Diego overall.

I always come here to grab a slice or thres leches with my mom at least once a month for two years now. My grandma got me a cake for me and my family to share and the tees leches milk was spoiled everyone instantly spat out there cake after one bite and now the house smells like old milk. I doubt we’ll ever come back as this was my favorite slice there and the only reason we supported that store terrible and heart breaking experience as I just turned 15 so much or my quince :(

Someone gifted me a butterfly cookie and it was delicious. I just had to go check the bakery. I ordered a little of everything because it was hard to choose. Not one item let me down. The family left me crumbs. I'll definitely be back.
